UK firms not formalising a cloud computing strategy

The majority of the UK’s small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) have no plans to formalise a cloud computing strategy, according to the findings from Close Brothers’ quarterly survey of UK SME owners and senior management from a range of sectors.

Africa’s largest colocation data centre provider, Teraco Data Environments, has kicked off construction on a new data centre in River Fields Bredell, 20km north of the current Isando campus. While Teraco finalises the expansion of its Isando campus to 20 megawatts, it has commenced with the new 24 megawatt Bredell build.

In the unveiling of the sixth annual Cisco® Global Cloud Index (2015-2020), cloud traffic is expected to rise 3.7-fold, up from 3.9 zettabytes (ZB) per year in 2015 to 14.1 ZB per year by 2020. This rapid growth of cloud traffic is attributed to increased migration to cloud architectures due to their ability to scale quickly and efficiently support more workloads than traditional data centers.
