QStar Technologies to offer Integrated Archive Server with Hitachi Data Systems

QStar Technologies has announced a new archive server solution using QStar Archive Manager software and Hitachi Compute Rack servers. This solution provides a pre-installed integrated server for end users, allowing a single archive solution appropriate for multiple markets, including the "Media Cloud" and "Broadcast Archive" use cases.

The QStar solution integrates seamlessly with Hitachi file and content platforms including Hitachi NAS Platform (HNAS) and Hitachi Content Platform (HCP). This solution can also leverage Hitachi Unified Storage (HUS) to cache content in active use. This cache may be used as a flexible pool for particular projects and may grow over time. This integrated server solution also supports all currently shipping tape technologies (LTO-5, LTO-6, TS1140 and T10000C), using proprietary or industry standard LTFS file systems. Tape libraries from all leading manufacturers are supported.


Broadcasters can now benefit from a more fully converged architecture for archive that combines elements of compute, networking and storage under a single management layer. This solution has the added benefit of supporting a large range of archive technologies including object storage, tape and optical, while migrating, moving or copying content from a variety of applications and storage environments. Especially attractive is the ability to create a seamless archive resource for popular media asset management systems and media server systems.

QStar has additionally partnered with Rorke Data, an Avnet company, who are specialists in the Media and Entertainment market. They will be a primary integrator for the QStar archive server. With detailed knowledge and years of experience with QStar software and Hitachi Data Systems infrastructure, Rorke Data is well positioned to create and distribute the solution worldwide.
