Tegile opens UK office

Tegile Systems has opened an office in the United Kingdom, extending the global rollout of its award-winning Zebi™ storage arrays to Europe and beyond. The company has hired former Dell/EqualLogic executive Paul Silver to head the new office as Vice President, Europe Middle East and Africa.

Silver has a 20-year record as a sales and sales management superstar, consistently over-achieving sales goals for storage, telecommunications and other IT companies. He has established a reputation as a startup specialist who excels in building exceptional sales organizations, developing and executing channel programs and innovative distribution strategies. Silver joins Tegile from desktop virtualization vendor GreenBytes, where he was also Vice President EMEA. He previously held a similar position with EqualLogic and started their business in EMEA until the acquisition by Dell for $1.4 billion and beyond.

“I could not have hoped to find a more perfect fit than Tegile to build the next sales success story,” said Silver. “With a hugely disruptive product offering at the intersection of solid state storage and virtualization, Tegile’s no-compromise storage technology is poised for an unlimited success in Europe.”

“Our European operation is in very capable hands with Paul Silver coming on board to lead our efforts in Europe and beyond,” said Justin Cheen, Vice President of Sales at Tegile. “It speaks to the excellence of the executive team and the market potential of our Zebi array technology that Tegile was able to attract an executive of Paul’s stature to head our expansion into Europe.”

Tegile has experienced European traction for its hybrid and all flash arrays, with its most recent customer, a large, national Irish airline. The airline has installed a Tegile Zebi HA2800 pure solid state array at its headquarter’s data center where the company is using the Zebi technology as the foundation of their virtual servers, SQL databases and virtual desktop platform. The Zebi array enabled the airline to meet its seemingly incongruous objectives of controlling storage costs while driving storage performance to unprecedented levels.

Tegile Zebi hybrid arrays leverage the performance of SSD and the low cost per terabyte of high capacity disk drives to deliver up to seven times the performance yet require up to 75% less capacity than legacy arrays. Tegile doesn’t simply use SSDs as a tier of storage in Zebi arrays, instead architecting the performance benefits of SSDs throughout the data path, giving every application a performance boost with flash storage.

The Zebi HA2800, all-Flash storage with a hybrid twist, is a multi-protocol, all-flash storage array that can be placed in front of a large pool of Zebi hard disk drives to deliver leading performance while not abandoning the aggressive cost constraints customers operate within. It delivers superior performance and can be augmented with expansion chassis to expand capacity up to 146 raw TB and resolve the $/GB challenge other all-flash arrays cannot address.
