Bernard Matthews signs networking agreement with MDNX

MDNX says that Bernard Matthews is utilising its MPLS network across 58 sites in the UK. The network allows Bernard Matthews to use optimum connectivity for business-critical applications in its head office and across its turkey processing plants. The agreement is for three years and will allow Bernard Matthews to move to new services as and when they become available, or when network demands change.

Prior to utilising an MPLS network from MDNX, Bernard Matthews was using a network based on IPSec standards, which it found cumbersome to manage and often caused the IT team to contend with network and performance related issues. It decided to move to an MPLS network as it would provide it with better flexibility and easier day-to-day management of the network.

The MPLS network from MDNX will allow Bernard Matthews to improve business effectiveness by enabling improved communications between its offices and by making business resources more accessible to remote users. Additionally, by creating unique and separate VPNs over MDNX’s network, Bernard Matthews can ensure secure data communications between office and remote workers.

During the deployment phase of the network, MDNX deployed two clouds solutions to manage a smooth transition. New circuits were deployed in one cloud environment, parallel to old circuits in a separate cloud being removed from the network environment. This approach ensured that there was no disruption to Bernard Matthews’ daily operations.

“When we were choosing our new network, the MPLS model from MDNX stood out due to its flexibility, ease of management and the operational efficiencies we would be able to achieve,” says Jon Locke, Support Services Manager at Bernard Matthews. “We are now able to route traffic and run important daily reports without delays. In addition, we have made our network more agile and more suited to our day-to-day needs. The expansive network covers all of our operations from our head office, to our turkey farms dotted across East Anglia.”

“MPLS networks have become great business enablers by greatly reducing the timescale and complexity of delivering new IT services,” says Wayne Churchill, COO at MDNX. “Utilising the cloud to deliver the network has been a great benefit for Bernard Matthews. The simplicity and flexibility of our MPLS network means that everyone at Bernard Matthews has been able to carry on doing business in an effective and secure environment.”
