Organisations continue to list “increased use of server virtualisation” as a top IT priority for 2013, demonstrating the desire for a more agile, responsive and cost-effective IT environment. This is according to ESG’s recent 2013 IT Spending Intentions Research Report that also found the majority of these organisations will need to transform their IT environment without the aid of additional funds, with 50 percent of respondents reporting a flat IT budget and another 8 percent reporting a declining IT budget in 2013. With a comprehensive portfolio of high-performance virtual products and the free software upgrade for life, Silver Peak is helping customers overcome these challenges and more quickly and easily transition to virtualisation.

“Virtualisation provides undeniable cost and flexibility benefits, but many customers are still navigating their way toward virtualised network services,” said David Hughes, CEO of Silver Peak. “Some organisations are not quite ready to make the switch to virtual, but we know they will be in the future. When they do, Silver Peak has them covered. With our software upgrade for life, customers can buy hardware today knowing they can easily convert to virtual when they’re ready.”

Silver Peak delivers the industry’s fastest and most-flexible WAN optimisation software, which allows customers to move more data, over longer distances, and in less time. The Silver Peak virtual products deliver multi-gigabit performance on all standard hypervisors, including VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V Server, and KVM. With flexible pricing options, customers can pay as they go and pay as they grow, including annual subscription licensing or even hourly utility pricing offered by Amazon Web Services.

According to the IDC Worldwide Datacentre Network 2013-2017 Forecast and Analysis (doc# 241281, May 2013), “As virtualisation and cloud continue to grow, enterprises will seek to leverage virtualised network and security services to align better with virtualised application workloads. In this context, enterprise IT departments will seek to tap the service velocity and flexibility of the virtual form factor.” Additionally, Dell’Oro Group’s Q4 2012 Data Centre Appliance Report cites that the market for virtual WAN optimisation will grow by 100 percent in 2013, while the overall market is only expected to grow by 6 percent.
