Computacenter to work with Biomni to test VMware vCloud Hybrid Service in EMEA

Early Access Programme allows Biomni to test ‘pop-up’ hybrid cloud and drive innovation.

Computacenter says that Biomni is the first organisation in EMEA to be part of the US Early Access Programme for the new VMware vCloud hybrid service (vCHS). Computacenter, which will be taking the vCHS service to market when it launches in the UK in 2014 recommended the service to Biomni and will work with them in an advisory capacity as they participate in the US-only Early Access Programme for the new cloud environment. The new service offers the ability to easily deploy and move applications and data between public and private clouds in a secure, seamless fashion.
"We are delighted to be working with Biomni as it uses the new hybrid cloud environment and the initial testing of running live workloads on vCHS has been very positive,” says Paul Casey, Cloud Lead, Computacenter UK. "vCHS is a secure, enterprise-grade, reliable infrastructure where organisations can deploy and manage new services using the same cloud technology set they use in their own private cloud environments and more easily than with any other provider. It’s living up to our expectations so far and we think vCHS is going to have a big impact in both smaller organisations like Biomni as well as in our enterprise customers”

Biomni provides the service catalogue for Computacenter’s C3 cloud portal, which allows users to select, customise and request cloud services, but with full visibility, control and final sign-off from the IT department. Biomni is using vCHS directly to respond faster to user needs and create bespoke services for its customers, but once the general release for vCHS is announced, will also include the solution as part of its service catalogue and in turn, Computacenter’s cloud solution.

The companies will examine how vCHS can allow them to spin up and move resources faster and more easily, creating interfaces between customer systems and service catalogue offerings, bringing a superior speed and level of service.

"Most businesses are using hybrid cloud today, but the public element is often provisioned by ad hoc users paying with their credit card, rather than the IT team who can take control of the cloud and maximise its benefits for the whole organisation,” says Angus Gregory, CEO, Biomni. “With the vCloud hybrid service, our IT department can truly control the cloud and make it really deliver at an enterprise level.”

vCHS enables organisations to access cloud resources using a virtualised environment they are familiar with, making it simple to understand, easy to use and with tight integration into existing systems. vCHS is feature rich and can be used to host new and legacy applications with the ability to rapidly increase and decrease capacity for key workloads and provision consistently regardless of target environment.
