bet365 has more than 11 million customers worldwide, and at peak times its systems can have up to 2 million concurrent users, generating hundreds of thousands of transactions per second. Using the ExtraHop platform, bet365 is able to expose and correlate key performance metrics across application tiers for all of these transactions, ensuring it has the full visibility needed to identify and proactively fix problems before they impact customers.

“Our performance is what makes us successful”, says Neil Selby, Head of Networks and Security, bet365. “We work in a very competitive marketplace, and minimising service disruption is essential for maintaining customer retention. The ExtraHop solution provides the visibility we need to prevent issues before our performance is affected.”

The ExtraHop Context and Correlation Engine (CCE) passively reconstructs and analyses all sessions, flows, and transactions on the company’s network, allowing bet365 to monitor application and infrastructure performance in a nonintrusive manner, without adding overhead to systems or the network. The platform offers tremendous cross-functional benefits and is in use by many areas of the bet365 organization, from Application Development to Operations.

“Too many organisations take it for granted that their infrastructure will operate as it should and then struggle to fix things when it doesn’t,” says Owen Cole, VP of EMEA, ExtraHop. “bet365 has built its reputation as a company committed to excellence, and their proactive approach to IT operations has played a significant role in driving their success. We’re proud that they have chosen ExtraHop as a partner as they continue to grow.”

Established by Denise Coates in 2001 from a portakabin in Stoke-on-Trent, bet365 has grown into a global operation that employs over 2,000 people, is live in 17 languages and delivers an unrivalled online experience to over 11 million customers worldwide.

Since August 2013, the visibility offered by ExtraHop has been available free forever with the ExtraHop Discovery Edition. Download the IT operations analytics virtual appliance, which is capable of monitoring 1000+ devices at a sustained 1Gbps.
