Salesforce.com expands use of Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Linux is the foundation for the cloud, and increasingly, global customers are choosing Red Hat Enterprise Linux as their cloud foundation. That’s why we’re excited to share that salesforce.com, the world’s #1 CRM platform, and a longtime Red Hat customer, has completed a new, multi-year contract with Red Hat, expanding use of Red Hat Enterprise Linux as a key part of its infrastructure.

“Our customers are running their businesses on our service, so we must have confidence in every piece of our infrastructure and architecture,” said Parker Harris, EVP and co-founder, salesforce.com. “Red Hat, as a piece of our infrastructure, has been very reliable.”

We have long valued our collaboration with salesforce.com and are delighted with their success. We are excited to support them as they continue their leadership in the cloud and CRM markets. Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform, provides salesforce.com with industry-leading performance, along with scalability, reliability, and stability.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux includes several features that make it an ideal platform for the cloud. Tools like control groups (cGroups) and perf, as well as virtualization capabilities based on Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) allow for solutions that deliver cloud computing attributes including fine grained resource management and resource pooling, and powerful scripting and shell capabilities give rise to on-demand automation and rapid scaling.
