The new Infortrend® (Public TPE: 2495) EonStor DS 3000 series storage systems provide enterprises with a modular host board design that makes swap-and-use upgrades down the road much quicker and simpler. Infortrend offers a range of host board/sub-controller options that are compatible with EonStor DS 3000 models. Two and four port host variants include 8G Fibre Channel, 16G Fibre Channel, 1GbE iSCSI, 10GbE iSCSI, and 6Gb/s SAS.

The cable-free and tool-less modular design of host board components means that EonStor DS 3000 systems can be upgraded by just changing the host, whereas in the past customers would have to acquire a completely new system at much higher cost. In addition to saving money, simple upgrades also remove the need for time consuming and complicated data migration as the overall system remains intact with just the host board being swapped.

The extensive host board options offered by EonStor DS 3000 products give customers more flexibility when finding solutions to best fit their budgets. For example, an enterprise may purchase a 1GbE iSCSI model initially, and then as business grows and circumstances allow, easily upgrade to 10GbE iSCSI or 6Gb/s SAS for better performance. This versatility adds to the repertoire of benefits provided by the EonStor DS 3000 series, such as high-speed storage, assured reliability and availability, plus simplified user-friendly management.

“When designing the new EonStor DS 3000 series, a key objective for us was to ensure the easiest and most flexible upgrades. We invested great effort to ensure the new products support multiple advanced host board standards, which can be changed and upgraded quickly thanks to modular hardware. This gives customers more choice and access to future-proof storage systems that can be upgraded to extend their service life while reducing costs and minimising disruptions to business and productivity”, said Thomas Kao, Senior Director of Product Planning at Infortrend.
