Six Degrees secures G-Cloud 4 status

Six Degrees Group (6DG), a provider of integrated data managed services, has been successfully selected for the latest G-Cloud framework: G-Cloud 4.

This fourth iteration is the next stage in the development of the G-Cloud framework, adding front-end usability improvements. G-Cloud gives public sector organisations a flexible means of choosing and purchasing cloud services covering infrastructure, platform, software and specialist cloud services.

Through G-Cloud 4, 30,000 public sector organisations will be able to approach 6DG for its accredited services including Infrastructure as a Service capabilities (Lot 1), Software as a Service (Lot 3) and Specialist Cloud Services (Lot 4). 6DG has already deployed a number of major projects including HPA, through previous G-Cloud iterations.

Mike Ing, Group Lines of Business Director, said: “We have already deployed an IL2 certified platform to provide secure cloud hosting to over 30 local authorities, and we see G-Cloud 4 as a key strategic route to market. We run our cloud platforms in our own datacentres, controlling security from gate-to-rack, in UK-based facilities. The security and sovereignty of data is essential for the public sector, especially with more stringent CESG regulations looming in 2014, so it is crucial that G-Cloud 4 helps them to find the appropriate cloud services from top class providers.”

“The fact that we fully control our data centres and are committed to storing data in the UK, means that we appeal strongly to this sector, where sovereignty and security of data is key. We fully expect that G-Cloud 4, like the previous frameworks, will continue to empower the public sector to shape the way IT is procured and purchased, making it work for them.”

“Furthermore, given the government’s goal of channelling 25% of central spending through small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by 2015, we have taken the launch of G4 as an opportunity to present our Professional Consultancy Services as an enhancement to our existing Cloud Store portfolio. We are ideally placed to assist SMEs selling into the public sector and can now offer our Specialist Cloud Services in addition to our SaaS and IaaS products.”
