Zadkine, one of the largest training centres for intermediate vocational education in the Netherlands, has recently signed a 3-year contract with Proact for the supply and implementation of a new storage and backup environment. A unique element of the solution is that it will be partly carried out by Zadkine itself, and partly under the responsibility of Proact. The environment as a whole will serve as the basis for increasing the availability, scalability and the associated IT infrastructure services.
Manager of ICT Operations & Development at Zadkine, Ronald Zeelenberg: “The role and the future growth of our primary and back-up environment required a revised data protection strategy. The solution and the hybrid approach offered by Proact within their services harmonize seamlessly here. Scalability, availability and the fast rollout of projects and expansions will be thereby ensured to the maximum level. While the solution will also bring us a huge financial saving.”
Proact provides a storage environment on the basis of a Netapp FAS3250 cluster. A Managed Cloud service within a Proact enterprise data centre will be used for the backup location. The cloud-based storage capacity will grow dynamically with Zadkine as more capacity becomes necessary for the backup. Day-to-day management tasks related to the backup environment are taken out of the hands of the IT department of Zadkine, enabling the company to focus on innovation and projects that will guarantee added-value for the company management.
Lucas den Os, Managing Director of Proact Netherlands: “Zadkine chose Proact’s hybrid cloud model because it provides the “best of both worlds”, with the perfect balance between “make or buy” at this moment in time. We are very pleased to be able to take this step together with Zadkine, and look forward to a successful continuation of our partnership.”
Proact provides a complete solution, including wholly-owned, 24x7 support for hardware and software.
