Interxion transitions from BS 25999 to ISO 22301 certification

INTERXION HOLDING NV has successfully transitioned from BS 25999 to ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management standard, enabling Interxion to assure customers of maintenance continuity in the event of crisis or disruption.

ISO 22301 evolved from internationally recognised standard, BS 25999, the world’s first Business Continuity Management (BCM) standard from the British Standards Institution (BSI). Interxion achieved the BS 25999 certification in October 2010 which was implemented to identify and manage disruptions which could affect the ability to provide services or continue operations.

Introducing a new framework for business continuity, ISO 22301 was published by ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) in May 2012. The standard specifies requirements to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and improve a documented management system to protect against, reduce the likelihood of occurrence, prepare for, respond to and recover from disruptive incidents when they arise.
To ensure consistency between certifications, there was a transition period this year for BS 25999 certifications that were due for renewal to implement the new structure. All independent assessments were conducted before the certification expiration. Interxion was issued with the new ISO 22301 accreditation on the 24 September 2013, and the certificate will last for three years.

“By transitioning from the BS 25999 to the new ISO 22301, we’re demonstrating our commitment and adherence to international business continuity management standards and taking a proactive approach to minimising the impact of disruptive incidents on our customers’ bottom lines,” said Lex Coors, Interxion’s VP DTEG and Chief Engineering Officer. “Our maintenance of a business continuity management system that complies with the very latest standards gives our clients greater assurance that we will work together to ensure the continued connectivity, coverage and consistency of operations should a disruptive incident occur.”
