Redcentric worked in partnership with Hays to create, design and build the LAN infrastructure for the majority of its offices. They are now connected via Redcentric’s MPLS network and are fully managed by the Redcentric team. The MPLS network connects each Hays location into a private cloud mitigating the need for multiple connections and helping to avoid traffic congestion typically associated with legacy network topologies.
As one of the world’s leading specialist recruitment group, and the market leader in the UK and Australia, Hays’ data security is also improved by ensuring that any traffic over the MPLS network is centrally controlled and ring-fenced from other data. It utilises Redcentric’s resilient data centres to ensure high performance.
Graham Loveless, network services manager at Hays, says, “Major changes to the applications Hays’ deploys combined with new cloud services being brought into service has put significant pressure on our network. As part of the network migration we upgraded the LAN and WAN for well over half of our offices. Following a two stage RFP, Redcentric were chosen to deliver this as a managed service due to its ability to provide world class, secure technology, supported by its own engineering teams at a very competitive price.”
The implementation has just gone live and provides Hays with Redcentric’s full Quality of Service WAN service to ensure application performance. Operating over Redcentric’s own network, hosted managed services are delivered from within Redcentric’s resilient Cloud environment, in addition to Hays’ own managed data centres.
Fraser Fisher, COO at Redcentric, comments, “We’ve been a network supplier of Hays since 2009 providing WAN and LAN services for some offices in the UK as well as VPN services for its European offices. Hays provided a very detailed and specific brief to respond to and we’re delighted that we scored highly against the selection criteria.”
As a recruitment consultancy, Hays covers over 20 specialisms, from accountancy and finance to construction, IT, education and healthcare. Its specialist teams operate out of 100 offices across the UK. With increasing demand to deliver more network services to Hays’ business community the upgraded network is more able to meet business demands at a significantly lower operating cost.
