Online 50 selects London data centre City Lifeline for most-critical operations

Online 50, the Sage 50 accounts online specialist, has chosen a private suite in the central London co-location data centre, City Lifeline to securely operate its most critical operations, involving the financial data of thousands of companies across the world.

Having previously worked with other data centres, Online 50 had experienced problems with downtime and access. After initially taking up temporary rack space with the City Lifeline data centre, Online 50 commissioned City Lifeline to build a custom-specified secure private suite in the data centre to meet the company’s specific requirements.

Rob Lambden, chief executive at Online 50, explains: “We have not had the smoothest service from data centres in the past, having suffered major issues with access and downtime. The cost to us of an unreliable data centre is enormous and incalculable. As we own and operate all of our equipment and network, what we need from our data centre providers is environmental (power/cooling) continuity and physical security. The City Lifeline data centre private suite provides us with good value without compromising service. In fact, since we started with them, we have experienced no downtime and have 100 per cent accessibility at any time. This is what we should expect but unfortunately not what we have always experienced from other providers. City Lifeline provides us with a level of customer service that frankly, we haven’t seen from any other data centre.

“City Lifeline enables us to ‘pay as you grow,’ which is a flexible scheme allowing us to more than double our hosting footprint in our private suite and diminishing the need to relocate. As an expanding company, this is indispensable for us. The company’s 20 years’ experience demonstrates to us that it is reliable and effective – at a time when technology is changing constantly. City Lifeline has not only survived, but thrived through evolving its systems. The key to our relationship is communication. City Lifeline is always open to discussions and is focussed on the needs of its customers, which results in excellent service.”

Roger Keenan, managing director at City Lifeline, comments: “The fact that Online 50 initially came to us for temporary space and then commissioned a data centre private suite is testament to our flexibility and customer service. The utmost trust is placed in Online 50 by its customers and in turn, that trust is placed in us. The very nature of Online 50 means that uptime is essential and at City Lifeline, we are confident that we will continue providing this, along with expert consultation whenever the need arises.”

Online 50 is the only Sage Authorised Application Service Partner in the UK.
