"The new FXT 4800 Edge Filer is the next logical extension of our Avere 4000 series," said Jeff Tabor, senior director of product marketing at Avere. "Faster CPU enables our customers to reach higher performance levels, and as always, our Edge-Core approach optimizes response time to users and enables centralizing storage for cost savings and simplified management."
Other specifications of the FXT 4800 include: 144GB DRAM, 2GB NVRAM, Flash SSD capacity of 4.8TB, and dual 10GE ports. In a 50-node cluster, the FXT 4800 provides a high performance and high capacity tier for as many as 50 NAS and object-based Core filers with a total of 7.2TB DRAM, 240TB SSD, more than 110GB/sec throughput, and more than 3.6 million ops/sec performance.
Avere FXT Edge filers are the first-ever solution to bring the benefits of performance tiering and scale-out clustering to any NAS environment including the flexibility to store files in the public cloud, including Amazon S3 and Glacier, or private cloud. The FXT Series provides NAS optimization by enabling customers to achieve unlimited performance scaling for their applications, global access to their data independent of where the storage is located, and dramatic cost savings in both capital and operating expenses.
