Increasing RAID capacity

The Starline RAIDdeluxe RDL-BD64-Series systems are designed for high-performance, efficiency, maximum expandability and flexibility. The RDL-BD64 (dual) /BS64 (single) features 64 hot-swappable 6 Gb SAS/SATA hard disk drive/SSD bays in a 19-inch 4U rackmount unit. By integrating the highest-capacity HGST 6TB Ultrastar He6 HDDs, and the industry’s only helium-filled HDDs, Starline has leveraged the benefits of HGST’s groundbreaking HelioSealTM technology to offer its customers a more efficient and cost effective storage solution.

Leveraging the inherent benefits of helium, which is one-seventh the density of air, the new 7Stac™ seven-disk 6TB Ultrastar He6 drive delivers a low 5.3 idle watts, runs 4-5°C cooler, and has a reduced weight of 640g, all in a standard 3.5-inch form factor. This helps lower customer TCO on virtually every level: capacity, power, cooling and storage density. The HGST 6TB Ultrastar He6 HDD enables Starline to increase the capacity of its Starline RAIDdeluxe RDL-BD64-Series systems by 50 percent (up to 384TB) and allows a 49 percent more efficient idle watts-per-TB.

The integration of HGST’s high-capacity 6TB Ultrastar He6 HDDs makes Starline’s RAIDdeluxe RDL-BD64-Series storage systems an attractive offering for data centre managers looking for more capacity with less power consumption, cooling and rack weight, without the need for a data centre overhaul. The Starline RAIDdeluxe RDL-BD64-Series systems also offer high-quality connectors for maximum signal integrity, and larger fans for better air flow-through to prevent overheating. This ensures a more effective and efficient power supply cooling.
