Fujitsu welcomes marketing into the fold as Simon Carter joins UK & Ireland Executive Team

Fujitsu says that Simon Carter, Marketing Director, UK & Ireland, has joined its Executive Team in this country. This change to the Executive Team comes as the business seeks to put in place the right structure for growth, and to take advantage of a growing globalisation agenda in the ICT market.

With a mandate to enhance the reputation of the Fujitsu brand in the UK and Ireland, drive new business wins, and strengthen relationships with existing customers, the role of a strong Marketing voice on the Executive Team has become increasingly important to Fujitsu at this time.

Effective from April 1st, Simon Carter’s promotion to the Executive Team comes as Fujitsu refines its business strategy. Carter – who has been with Fujitsu for just over four years – will continue to lead marketing activity in the UK and Ireland, reporting jointly to Claus-Peter Unterberger, Vice Group Head, Global Marketing Group, Fujitsu; and the Head of EMEIA, CSVP Fujitsu Ltd, Duncan Tait, as part of a successful matrix structure. Carter has brought an extensive portfolio of marketing experience to Fujitsu from his previous roles working with some of the UK’s strongest brands, including NatWest, EDF, Virgin, Post Office and Thomas Cook – the last three at Board level.

Simon Carter, Marketing Director, Fujitsu UK & Ireland, stated: “I believe strongly that the Marketing function plays an essential part of any business strategy – something which has been the subject of much debate in the Marketing press in recent weeks – and I am delighted to be asked to join Fujitsu’s senior team at this time.”

“I am fortunate to be part of a high performing team – in the UK and Ireland, as well as globally – and I believe that their expertise will help me and the UK & Ireland Executive Team be even more successful in the months and years to come. Fujitsu has performed strongly over the past couple of years, and we have a solid plan in place to grow much further, and I relish the role that I will play in that success.”

Duncan Tait, Head of EMEIA, Corporate Senior Vice President, Fujitsu Ltd, added: “The decision to bring Marketing into my Executive Team, is a recognition of the strong results that we have seen from the function over the past year, and the skills that I believe we need for the next chapter of our evolution. Simon’s past experience at this level will set him in good stead for the opportunities that I see ahead, as we seek to set ourselves apart from our competition as one of the world’s leading ICT companies, and to be seen as one of the most responsible businesses in this country”.
