Condusiv Technologies releases V-locity Endpoint

Everyone knows the frustration of a Windows® laptop or desktop becoming progressively slower over time, so Condusiv® Technologies has taken their V-locity® I/O optimization software platform that accelerates applications in virtual environments and adapted it to optimize I/O on Windows PCs, reducing the amount of I/O to disk with patented DRAM caching and patented fragmentation prevention to ensure defragmentation processes never have to be scheduled across a fleet of corporate laptops and desktops.

Condusiv Technologies, the leader in high-performance software optimizing technology, people and businesses, today announced the release of a new product addition to the V-locity family, V-locity Endpoint. V-locity Endpoint expands Condusiv’s I/O optimization software platform from virtualized Windows servers to Windows PCs. V-locity Endpoint alleviates the issue of performance degradation on a Windows PC by caching “hot data” within available system memory and preventing performance-robbing fragmentation in real-time at the OS level before files are written to disk. V-locity Endpoint is true “Set It and Forget It”® software as V-locity runs transparently in the background with zero impact to the user since all optimizations use only idle resources.

“Many of the techniques we innovated to reduce I/O to disk and solid-state drives in virtual environments are equally relevant to Windows PCs. While everyone knows the frustration of a Windows PC becoming progressively slower over time, not everyone realizes that this can be reversed with a simple software solution: V-locity Endpoint leverages patented DRAM caching and patented fragmentation prevention to not only keep PCs running like new, but in fact, run better than new. As a result, organizations get more productivity from employees, more life from existing hardware, and reduce persistent help desk calls that hamper IT staff productivity,” said Craig Jensen, CEO of Condusiv Technologies.

V-locity employs a proprietary software engine to alleviate the problem of the “I/O Blender Effect” in virtual environments by sequentializing otherwise random traffic from VMs to the host, V-locity Endpoint employs the same engine, IntelliWrite®, to prevent nearly all fragmentation from occurring so all writes and subsequent reads occur in an optimal, sequential state, allowing for fastest response time with minimal I/O and minimal disk head movement. And with the addition of DRAM caching, the number of I/O operations to disk is reduced even further since active data can be fulfilled within available system memory.

“The Windows built-in defragmentation utility only deals with the problem after the fact – after the data has already been stored in a performance-penalized state. Not to mention, since nearly all computer resources are used to run the defragmentation process, administrators have to schedule disk maintenance after hours. But nearly all corporate laptops and desktops are turned off during the night, so the issue of performance degradation keeps getting worse. V-locity Endpoint comes to the aid of IT administrators by keeping their fleet of laptops and desktops running like new without having to schedule any disk maintenance. And, with the addition of DRAM caching, users will find their laptops and PCs running even better than new,” said Jensen.

While CPU performance has been doubling every 18 months, disk performance has remained relatively flat for years. With the growing performance gap between CPU and disk drives, system administrators can ill afford to ignore the one performance degradation issue that hampers a PC the most – file fragmentation. V-locity Endpoint offers the only proprietary solution to prevent fragmentation from occurring and does so in real-time with near zero overhead since all optimizations occur using only idle resources.

“I’m happy to say that V-locity Endpoint not only brings a new era of performance optimization to hard disk drives, but to solid-state drives as well. Users of solid-state drives (SSDs) find their SSD no longer holds to its manufactured performance spec the longer it is used. While an SSD should not normally be defragmented, fragmentation prevention has enormous benefits. Our HyperFast® technology consolidates file system free space so the SSD can better pre-stage contiguous logical space for writes and erase blocks. This makes writing to the SSD faster without causing excessive SSD wear,” said Jensen.

V-locity Endpoint Features
· IntelliMemory® DRAM caching technology reduces I/Os to disk by intelligently caching active data within available system memory.
· IntelliWrite® write optimization technology prevents fragmentation from occurring so files are written in an optimal, sequential state.
· InvisiTasking® intelligent monitoring technology ensures all “background” operations within the system run with zero resource impact on current activities since only idle resources are used. It also accounts for remote access to local drives.
· Instant Defrag™ monitors and fixes fragmented files that are known to cause performance problems that were not caught by IntelliWrite in real-time.
· HyperFast® technology for SSDs makes writing the SSD faster without causing excessive SSD wear
· HyperBoot® technology speeds boot times by strategically moving files into sequential order on hard drives to minimize the number of I/O requests and random I/Os during the boot process.
· Enhanced reporting displays health and performance gains for the system. Reports include: Before/After Benefit Analyzer report, Recent activity report, and 7-day history
· A central management console that can deploy V-locity Endpoint to hundreds of PCs over the network within minutes
