“Our goal from the beginning has been to help our customers showcase and sell their photographs by displaying them with the same attention to details that went into making them. This results in thousands of high quality photos being uploaded to our site each day,” said Zenfolio Chief Information Officer Alex Fedotov. “Cleversafe’s technology gives us not only the reliability and security our customers and their photos deserve, but also it allows us to store massive amounts of data at a more cost-efficient price point than that of our former storage provider.”
Previously, Zenfolio used a pay-as-you-use public cloud service. While the public cloud was a cost-efficient storage option for Zenfolio in the beginning, it became increasingly expensive as Zenfolio began storing Terabytes per month. Cleversafe’s dsNet® object-based storage solution eliminates the need for costly data replication, which reduces capital and operating expenses. At the same time, the technology improves security and data availability, which is crucial to the photographers who rely on Zenfolio to upload photos and fulfill orders.
To keep Zenfolio’s online photograph collection safe and available, Cleversafe’s dsNet® object-based storage solution uses a patented, geographically dispersed erasure coding algorithm that stores data as virtualized and encrypted “slices” that are spread across multiple independent storage nodes in a cloud. This approach enhances the availability of Zenfolio’s data through toleration of multiple, simultaneous drive, node, site and/or network failures while maintaining continuous access to data.
“We’ve provided Zenfolio with an easy-to-manage solution that meets the high quality standards that Zenfolio’s online community expects and deserves,” said Russ Kennedy, senior vice president of product strategy and customer solutions at Cleversafe. “With the time and money saved by selecting object-based storage, Zenfolio is able to take the IT focus from storage to innovation and services that better serve its customers.”
