Amey selects HP to transform its IT infrastructure to the Cloud

British subsidiary of Ferrovial Servicios S.A. will increase quality of service in its business units with HP Helion Managed Virtual Private Cloud.

Amey, the British subsidiary of Ferrovial Servicios S.A., will leverage HP Helion Managed Virtual Private Cloud and Continuity Services to increase the quality of IT services for its business units.

Under the new contract, HP will provide Amey’s centralised IT infrastructure for the next ten years. By transforming its IT infrastructure to a hybrid model of cloud-based services complemented with traditional data center services, Amey will be able to adjust the volume of its IT to meet its changing business needs at all times.
Amey is the UK’s leading public and regulated services provider, operating over 320 contracts. The company provides a range of services including utilities, highways, waste management, rail, justice solutions, social housing and facilities management. Amey employs 21,000 staff, and had a turnover of £2,300m (€2,800m) in fiscal 2013.

“The HP Helion Managed Virtual Private Cloud paradigm fits perfectly with our dynamic business needs,” says Darryl Salmons, Amey’s CIO. “As a result of streamlining our IT operations we will be able to increase the quality of service to our business units, give them a predictable cost structure, and incorporate technological innovation as it becomes available.”

HP and Amey worked in collaboration to analyse the company’s present and future needs and translate this into a long-term IT operations model. As part of a 15-month transformation program, Amey will migrate to an outsourced IT solution delivered from HP Global Service Delivery Centers within the EU, with guaranteed service levels and regular updates to ensure that the latest innovations are automatically incorporated. In addition, HP Helion Continuity Services Services, part of the HP Helion Managed Virtual Private Cloud, will protect Amey’s IT operations.

“HP’s track record with Ferrovial in Spain gave Amey the confidence to work with us,” says Howard Hughes, senior vice president & general manager, HP Enterprise Services EMEA. “This contract, which enhances the long-term relationship established with Ferrovial Group when the Master Service Agreement was signed in 2010, will ensure the best IT delivery model for Amey and enable future joint activities.”
