CA Unified Infrastructure Management delivers new capabilities

CA Technologies has announced a new release of CA Unified Infrastructure Management (CA UIM), further bolstering its offering for unified monitoring and management of critical IT services and infrastructure. Formerly known as CA Nimsoft Monitor, the new release boosts IT performance by improving service reliability and staff productivity with enhanced analytics, alerting and cloud monitoring capabilities.

“The resilient architecture of CA Unified Infrastructure Management and its broad monitoring coverage of heterogeneous environments has helped our IT organisation ensure that we are geared up for delivering and ensuring a superior customer experience,” said Jason Anderson, technology manager, Support Services, Datalink Corporation. “These new analytical capabilities will help us drive additional operational efficiencies by helping us to focus on real issues early on.”

Enhanced analytics in CA UIM, including “time to threshold,” predictively calculates and identifies threats in performance to provide early warnings of problems so that they can be corrected before end users are impacted. Also, by leveraging new “time over threshold” analytics, IT staff can better determine real and persistent performance issues that need to be addressed while minimising false alarms due to occasional spikes.

“IT organisations are increasingly facing the critical need to develop and deploy applications with precision and speed, while also delivering the reliability and responsiveness that users demand,” said John Smith, general manager, Enterprise Management, CA Technologies. “CA UIM’s scalable, end-to-end monitoring capabilities help IT organisations and service providers stay ahead of potential infrastructure issues that could impact customer experience by enabling staff to proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure optimal performance of their critical IT services.”

In addition to the enhanced analytics and alarms delivered by CA Unified Infrastructure Management, the new release also includes updates to help users monitor and optimise performance within Amazon Web Services (AWS), including:

· Enhanced AWS cloud services support – To further minimise the need for disparate monitoring tools for AWS monitoring, the new release adds to CA UIM’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) monitoring capabilities by supporting additional services including: Amazon Relational Database Services (RDS), Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS), Amazon ElastiCache and Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS).
· New support for custom metrics within AWS – Users can monitor custom metrics to ensure optimal performance of their AWS-based applications and infrastructure.
Featuring a single, unified architecture, CA UIM’s new historical alarm views and enhanced reporting capabilities provide deeper insights into IT infrastructure availability and performance across the entire IT environment, both inside and outside the data center.
