HP Helion OpenStack and HP Helion Development Platform available!

Since announcing the HP Helion portfolio in May 2014, customers and partners have shown strong interest in learning more about the value from an open source-based, hybrid cloud. Hybrid solutions resonate with customers because they know that their applications and workloads do not fit in a ‘one cloud fits all model.’ They want the flexibility to deploy apps to whichever cloud (private, public or hosted) is the most appropriate, at a given time. And, they want the benefit of open source, offering a vibrant community of passionate and curious developers that contribute to a projects success, driving faster innovation cycles, economic breakthroughs, and reduced vendor lock in.

HP has now released fully-supported, commercial versions of OpenStack® software and a fully integrated development environment based on Cloud Foundry technology. Designed to work together seamlessly, the HP Helion OpenStack and HP Helion Development Platform offer an integrated IaaS and PaaS solution for enterprise cloud computing that is both highly-available and developer-friendly.

Customers can deploy HP Helion OpenStack to gain the advantages of an open source distributed computing platform that provides predictable scalability, high availability, durability and significantly reduced operational costs. With the HP Helion Development Platform users can quickly develop and deploy new cloud-native applications using a wide range of programming languages and application services. In addition to the combined benefits of a community of over 2,500 developers, our commercial offerings provide the following advantages:
· Fast, reliable implementation of OpenStack cloud software and Cloud Foundry technology
· Hardened and tested builds for increased enterprise reliability
· 24x7 technical support in 32 languages
· New optimized solutions that offer integrated HP Helion software, HP server and storage hardware and managed services

Today’s announcement includes a number of innovations since the initial launch:
· Support for multiple programming languages including Java, Ruby, Node.js, PHP, Python and Perl
· Implementation of OpenStack Trove with built-in high-availability with Cloud Foundry offering the first fully-integrated database-as-a-service
· Choice of multiple database and queuing services options, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, Memcache and Trove (MySQL)
