Opengear has announced the addition of the ACM5504-5-GS-I and the ACM5508-2-GS-I remote management gateways to its array of remote connectivity solutions. This newest arrivals in the ACM5500 product line are now certified by Sprint, having been tested and approved as capable for use on the Sprint wireless network.

Building on the capabilities of the popular ACM5504-5 series, the ACM5504-5-GS-I and ACM5508-2-GS-I give IT administrators secure out-of-band cellular-based access and control over distributed networks and remote infrastructure. Admins are granted a selection of versatile capabilities for remotely managing essential network assets in remote locations, including automatic detection and recovery from conventional network outage threats like device misconfiguration and lock up.

The Sprint-certified additions reach beyond infrastructure-based concerns by monitoring physical sensors that report on remote site environmental conditions, connecting with digital I/O sensor ports for detecting and warning of potentially devastating issues such as extreme temperatures, oncoming water, or physical tampering. Smart alert escalation using SNMP, email and direct SMS keeps admins on top of situations, expediting protection and recovery measures. The management gateways also feature strong, military-spec security and authentication, and the flexible reliability of out-of-band connectivity that functions even in a network outage. Sprint’s certification of the ACM5504-5-GS-I and ACM5508-2-GS-I expand the choices available to customers seeking dependable remote management and connectivity solutions.

“We’re pleased to offer customers new robust and capable Sprint-certified gateway options to meet the demands of their remotely managed networks,” said Rick Stevenson, CEO, Opengear. “For enterprises where uptime is money and suffering outages is simply not an option, our cellular out-of-band remote management products are incredibly cost-effective and deliver a quick return on investment. By making sure our products pass through the rigors of the certification process, we’re proud to keep our enterprise users connected to their vital infrastructure via Sprint with these great new gateway choices.”
