Eurotech Computer Services partners with Datum Datacentres to support its expanding portfolio

In the search for new ways to solve client business issues, the Eurotech team continuously strive to build new solutions that will improve performance and reduce costs. When their latest release of Cloud services were in development, Eurotech recognised the need for a new co-location data centre provider that could enable them to provide a next generation data centre service to their clients and so Eurotech entered into a partnership with Datum Datacentres in Farnborough in 2014.

As Franz Esser, Eurotech’s Strategic Business Manager explains: “Our ethos of driving technology to support the business needs of our clients means that we are continually looking for innovative ways to deliver long term value. As more of our clients are looking to increase corporate agility while, at the same time, seeking options that move costs to an OpEx rather than a CapEx model, we continue to develop Cloud-based solutions and services. Three of these recently launched services are the Cloud Disaster Recovery Service, Cloud Backup Service and our Cloud Network Attached Storage Service. Each of these provide clients with the flexibility to both act and react speedily, with enterprise-class services at the lowest possible operational cost.”

Transitioning to Datum’s leading edge facility has enabled Eurotech to confidently add a range of significant new solutions, knowing that the infrastructure and connectivity so critical to their delivery is fully supported. Eurotech’s Infrastructure Architect, Jordan Buckenham, expands: “When we started the search, we wanted to identify a facility that would fully support our services and provide an enterprise-class primary data centre that would fully support our client The Compliance Cloud to effectively service their dental practice clients across the UK. Their centralised reporting and compliance services to dental practices are delivered via a web-based portal that continuously harvests and collates data from hundreds of dental practices around the UK. Security and availability were always going to be key and after a full evaluation of the shortlist, Datum stood out as the clear choice, due in no small part to its Government-grade secure park location and extremely resilient 2N infrastructure. Datum’s focus on us as a client is also fully apparent and the helpfulness and attitude of the whole team has been exemplary, making our initial migration very smooth.”

“Partnering with Datum gives us the platform from which we can offer our clients flexible deployment options that can be tailored to suit business requirements. With the growing importance of Cloud and the broadening reach of our core solutions, we recognised that connectivity and availability were non-negotiable in delivering a robust, reliable service. Datum’s FRN1 enables us to offer cloud and data centre services from a highly resilient, highly secure facility that delivers a broad range of connectivity options including direct connection to AWS.”

Flexibility works for Eurotech as well as for their clients. Datum’s client-focused flexible approach means that Eurotech are able to take a first refusal on space in to which they can expand as their services grow, without formally committing to the unknown. Matt McCluney, Account Director at Datum for Eurotech, notes: “At Datum we pride ourselves not just on building a data centre that fully supports business critical IT with high availability, high security and strong connectivity, but also on working with our client to develop a co-location service that supports their desired business outcomes. We see this as a long term relationship and we are delighted that Eurotech selected Datum Datacentres as the partner to support their future growth.“
