ITS launches Cloud-based data storage and recovery services

ITS, a nationwide Managed IT Services provider, has expanded its managed services suite by launching BlackCloud and BlackVault, affordable off-site data backup and disaster-recovery-as-a-service on ITS’s private cloud platform in the company’s dedicated, highly secure UK data centre.

ITS recognises that businesses across many sectors are experiencing a surge in the amount and type of data they are responsible for, including transaction records, images, videos, logs and more. Exponential growth combined with higher customer expectations and security, compliance and cost pressures have altered the requirements for vaulting and recovery.

BlackCloud makes enterprise-level vaulting and recovery affordable for small- and medium-sized businesses. The cloud solution provides secure and compliant data vaulting and recovery at a cost equivalent to an in-house backup operation.

BlackCloud is a secure, private cloud solution housed in a high-availability data center. BlackCloud architecture reduces risk of data loss and enables rapid data backup and recovery within a secure and flexible infrastructure. Customer data is compressed and transmitted to ITS’ remote vault with auxiliary power supplies, powerful computers and manned security.

ITS BlackCloud features include:

Fully automated cloud backup
Rapid recovery of systems
Deduplicated and encrypted data stored off-site
Customer access portal
Hardware and application support with guaranteed response times
Backup monitoring with remediation of failures

For customers that need additional protection for their data, ITS has launched BlackVault, an on-site addition to BlackCloud. This solution is a complete disaster-recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) package, offering on-site and off-site recovery services.

BlackVault is a pre-configured, fully integrated data storage unit, provided by ITS, that offers backup and recovery within a customer’s office, removing the need to purchase expensive equipment for replication and recovery. The unit can be installed at a location of the customer’s choice, creating a virtual environment while providing quick and easy access to the services when needed.

BlackVault features include:

Fully automated backup to an on-site BlackVault unit
Deduplicated and encrypted data stored on-site
High-speed local recovery
Off-site protection of mission-critical data
Physical and virtual recovery capabilities
Remote monitoring and recovery assistance
Standby recovery resources

ITS head of managed services, Matt Kingswood, stated, “Small- to medium-sized businesses struggle with data replication and disaster recovery (DR) because of the price tag. The ITS BlackVault appliance makes DR feasible for SMEs, enabling efficient and reliable data recovery to help meet recovery time objectives (RTOs).”
Matt is leading efforts to introduce a range of managed services based on the new ITS cloud platform. Matt has more than 20 years of experience in the information technology industry, and was formerly CEO of The IT Solution – a full service IT supplier acquired by ITS. Previously Matt had a career in technology for several top-tier investment banks before founding and selling several companies in the IT services industry.
