Aria Networks enhances network planning and optimisation solution with BGP modelling functionality

Enables operators and OTT providers to more effectively model the impact of network behaviour on traffic across the internet.

Aria Networks says that Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) modelling has been added to its software suite. Available immediately, BGP functionality enables service providers to plan and manage networks more effectively.

By allowing network operators, internet service providers and cloud/OTT networks to predict the impact of fluctuations in data demand across the internet, BGP modelling also highlights where potential failures of transport or network peering points may occur.

When combined with its patent protected capacity planning and optimisation software, Aria Networks’ BGP modelling also empowers operators to evaluate the impact of different peering arrangements on their network. Contract analysis that reduces OPEX from peering, whilst ensuring the new arrangement will not have a negative impact on the network and remains resilient to failure, is also then possible.

There are currently in excess of 45,000 internet service providers globally that use BGP. The Aria Networks’ solution has been developed with support and input from operators to ensure it delivers relevant solutions that meet genuine business requirements. The software has already been fully tested across several global networks.

“Understanding how networks behave and why they fail when they do, is a key requirement in delivering a reliable and effective network service,” said Dr Jay Perrett, Chief Technology Officer at Aria Networks. “Introducing BGP failure analysis in a manner that can be extended to include resource and peering considerations provides operators with an important capability that supports them in efficiently managing their networks.”

Aria Networks’ BGP modelling solution works in collaboration with Aria Networks’ suite of applications that provide service providers with relevant ROI information and support for optimising KPIs.

“As the journey to the self-optimised network continues, the capability to plan, model and optimise complex networks provides key differentiation for service providers and global internet brands. With the launch of this new functionality, Aria Networks will be central to helping service providers plan current and future network monetisation,” Perrett concluded.
