Eduserv adds AWS support

Eduserv, the not-for-profit managed cloud services provider, is launching support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) to its Assured Hybrid Cloud Service, a new service that will reduce barriers to moving public services online.

The Eduserv Assured Hybrid Cloud provides a single, integrated platform that can host data needing a blend of security controls covering OFFICIAL and OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE data.

The new service brings together secure cloud hosting from Eduserv, currently Pan Government Accredited to IL3, alongside the secure AWS Cloud. Eduserv’s Cloud Connector allows applications to securely share information across security domains.

It is designed for organisations that need the flexibility and economies of scale offered by AWS but also need to keep some portions of their data in a UK-sovereign cloud service.

The Eduserv Assured Hybrid Cloud is supplemented by professional and managed services, making it easy for organisations to move their entire estate to the cloud.

Eduserv’s professional services include cloud strategy, design and migration. The managed service is delivered by a 24/7 service desk, network operations centre and security operations centre.

Ed Zedlewski, Managing Director of Managed Cloud Services at Eduserv said:

“The Eduserv Assured Hybrid Cloud has the potential to revolutionise cloud adoption in the public sector. One of the major barriers to adoption of cloud computing is the handling of OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE data. Our hybrid cloud, coupled with AWS, provides a secure, accredited cloud environment for sensitive information.

“AWS is continuously innovating and adding new features and services. We are working with AWS to help make this rich environment of services more accessible to the public sector to help them accelerate the delivery of online services.

“Our flexible managed services will provide the additional support organisations need in order to free up time and resources for their IT and digital leaders so they can add greater value to their organisations as a business partner rather than a service provider.”

Max Peterson, General Manager Partners, Capture and Contracts, Worldwide Public Sector, Amazon Web Services, said:

“UK customers are eager to start taking advantage of the cloud. By working with Eduserv, customers are able to benefit from the cloud’s breadth of services, agility and cost savings, while complying with the Cabinet Office’s Digital by Default standard and Cloud First policy.”
