“The IIC is leading in the development of industrial IoT innovation and technology,” said Dr. Richard Soley, executive director, Industrial Internet Consortium. “We are pleased Altera has joined the IIC, offering its experience in FPGA and SoC-based solutions, for the development of IoT systems that are more flexible and secure.”
FPGAs Enable Intelligent and Flexible IoT Gateways and Analytics Acceleration
Altera’s highly customizable FPGA (field programmable gate array) and SoC (system on chip) products offer designers the ability to securely bridge diverse and evolving wired and wireless interface standards across a broad range of IoT applications. FPGA technology also supports the acceleration of data analytics and control functions in both the data center, and locally, at the edge, that are core to emerging IoT application requirements.
“Altera technology will enable the IIC to look at innovative ways to support accelerated intelligent cloud and gateway platforms that collect and process the input from a wide variety of ‘things’ at the edge of the network,” said David Moore, director, Industrial Business Unit at Altera. “These platforms can benefit significantly from Altera’s hardware and software programmability, which can flexibly service fragmented application needs while offering the performance to cost-effectively accelerate analytics and security in the data center and IoT infrastructure.”
