The new contract with Sopra Steria will commence on the 1 November for a period of five years. Sopra Steria will be responsible for the day-to-day IT services and support across the council.
The services will cost £37m over the 5 year term which delivers a saving of around 20 percent on the current contract, whilst delivering improvements in a number of key areas that will benefit Council users and residents.
Portfolio holder for performance, corporate resources and policy development, Councillor Graham Henson said:
“As more and more of our interactions with residents are taking place online we need to ensure we have the best possible IT system in place to help local people. Sopra Steria has extensive experience of working with local authorities and a track record of delivering complex projects. This contract represents good value for residents, staff and the young people who will benefit from more apprenticeship places plus a commitment to pay the London Living wage.”
The company has also committed to provide the Council with a number of initiatives that will benefit the local community including apprenticeships, work placements, work tasters, jobs for residents and support for events plus a commitment to pay the London Living wage.
