SSE Enterprise Telecoms has been selected by Marston’s Telecoms to upgrade its existing network as the company welcomes increased network demand, particularly from its hospitality customer base. The managed service provider, which is part of brewer Marston’s PLC, is utilising SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ new optical networking service, LIGHTNOW, for three 10Gb wavelengths, providing a scalable, resilient foundation for Marston’s Telecoms’ core network and managed service platforms.

Marston’s Telecoms is also making use of SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ extensive network expansion, dubbed Project Edge, which concluded in Edge Plus, a service which allows companies to interconnect with other leading network providers beyond the SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ network footprint. SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ online price comparison engine, LIVEQUOTE, which compares and analyses Ethernet quotes from other major UK carriers as well as SSE Enterprise Telecoms, allows Marston’s Telecoms to find and provision network services for customers in real time at the most cost effective price possible.

“In order to deliver a fail-safe solution to UK businesses, as well as our own core network, we needed to create a highly secure and reliable infrastructure,” said Rob Derbyshire, operations manager, Marston’s Telecoms. “We take pride in offering a resilient network built on a foundation of connections, which enables us to offer the best in network failovers. That’s why we looked for a trusted network partner to facilitate our growth as a managed service provider. SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ reputation and its extensive network footprint, combined with its ability to interconnect with other carriers, were paramount to our decision.”

Derbyshire continued: “In terms of the deployment itself, the on boarding process is very simple and the LIVEQUOTE tool allows us to swiftly source the most competitive quotes available regardless of location, something that will be vital as we grow. We view this as the start of a long and strategic relationship with SSE Enterprise Telecoms – our partner of choice for all of our ongoing optical and Ethernet requirements.”

“Marston’s Telecoms chose us to deliver its network service expansion due to our extensive network and its reputation for reliability,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of SSE Enterprise Telecoms. “We offer the capacity and service delivery assurances which are crucial as Marston’s Telecoms grows its business and becomes a trusted partner for its own customers. Our price comparison engine, LIVEQUOTE, is crucial to this, as it ensures that Marston’s Telecoms’ customers can always access the most robust network, in the fastest time, at the most cost effective price, no matter where they are in the UK.”
