Barracuda has added networking and application security capabilities to complement enhancements made to Azure. Customers using Barracuda NG Firewall and Barracuda Web Application Firewall can now benefit from extended security capabilities and Azure Resource Manager Templates for faster, easier and security-enhanced Azure deployments. The Barracuda solutions provide flexibility for customers with both hourly Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) and Bring-Your-Own-License (BYOL) subscription options available. Barracuda is demonstrating its Azure security solutions this week in booth 580 during Microsoft Ignite, May 4-8, at McCormick Place South Hall in Chicago.

“As Microsoft further evolves Azure, Barracuda remains closely aligned to ensure we offer our customers the latest enhancements in their cloud deployments,” said Michael Hughes, SVP WW Sales, Barracuda. “We value our relationship with Microsoft and are excited with the additional use cases we are enabling. We look forward to continued success in helping our joint customers take advantage of the cloud.”

Enhanced Network Functionality
The new Azure routing features allow the Barracuda NG Firewall to act as the default gateway for all machines on the same Virtual Network (VNET). This enables security and operations teams to get full traffic visibility both in and out of VNETs as well as the ability to control all traffic. New User Defined Routes also allows users to deploy the Barracuda NG Firewall on both ends of the S2S Virtual Private Network (VPN) tunnels for full security inspection and traffic prioritisation. Customers can leverage the Barracuda NG Firewall for application awareness to enable traffic prioritisation and Quality of Service (QoS).

Secure Publishing of Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)
AD FS facilitates Single Sign On from devices (including mobile) to cloud or on-premises web applications. The Barracuda Web Application Firewall facilitates publishing of AD FS and federated applications in Azure as well as on-premises. In order to bypass sometimes rigorous internal procedures, organisations are increasingly deploying AD FS in Azure. The Barracuda Web Application Firewall in Azure provides improved security, availability and scalability for publishing AD FS in Azure. It also shields the Windows Server cloud infrastructure from Internet based threats that target known or 0-day Microsoft vulnerabilities. N-way synchronised clustering in Azure ensures that the application security tier can scale-out proportionally to the web application tier.

Easy Deployment Configuration
Barracuda has made Azure Resource Manager Templates available for faster and easier deployment of Barracuda Web Application Firewall and Barracuda NG Firewall in Azure. Template files contain all the standard configurations and images needed to allow an administrator to get up and running easily. For example, an Azure customer can use a Barracuda template to deploy a Barracuda Web Application Firewall in front of SharePoint servers.

Flexible Subscription Model
The Barracuda NG Firewall and Barracuda Web Application Firewall provide subscriptions that can be modified to meet an organisations various consumption models. Flexible BYOL and hourly PAYG pricing options are available through the Azure Marketplace.

“With the new template language support for Virtual Machines, we have built enhancements to Azure that will help customers adopt the cloud more quickly and move them closer to their infrastructure goals,” said Corey Sanders, Director of Program Management, Microsoft Azure. “As one of the first security providers on Azure, Barracuda is always right in line with Microsoft to provide our mutual customers solutions that allow them to easily migrate and scale to the cloud.”
