Working with IT Managed Service Provider, Esteem, Mid Yorkshire Hospitals were able to implement a bespoke local storage solution and repatriate a significant amount of PACS data within a strict deadline, avoiding considerable monetary penalties set by the national contract.
David Enzor, IT Operational Services Manager for Mid Yorkshire Hospitals said: “Without the help of Esteem we wouldn’t have been able to meet the migration deadline, it’s as simple as that. Esteem designed a storage solution for the Trust based on EMC technology, which has greatly improved the speed of retrieval of our archived data. Our clinicians can now process archive images, such as X-rays, in a matter of seconds as opposed to several minutes, improving our level of service to the public.”
When the data repatriation was complete the Trust’s PACS Project Board asked for letters to be sent to Esteem and EMC thanking them for their invaluable help in the project.
Joe Connolly, Esteem CEO, said: “Working collaboratively with Mid Yorkshire Hospitals IT Services, PACS team, EMC, and PACS provider, Agfa, enabled us to identify and implement a bespoke storage solution for the Trust which not only met the compulsory requirements set by the end of the national contract, but which also significantly improved the performance of Mid Yorkshire’s IT systems. As a leading provider of IT services for the healthcare sector, we understand that using innovative IT systems which help to improve patient care is vital for the success of the NHS.”
Consultant radiologist, and clinical PACS lead for Mid Yorkshire Hospitals, Dr Nicholas Spencer said: "Accessible current and archived imaging data, presented via PACS, is crucial to effective management of many patients on pathways including those for cancer and emergency care.
Since the local archive was implemented and our legacy data repatriated, the step up in performance has been a significant clinical benefit for clinicians and the radiology team, especially when reviewing and comparing current imaging studies with previous scans.
Working with its key partner Esteem, the Trust has improved patient care, by speeding access to radiology studies including crucial CT and MRI scans."
