NTT Communications has launched identity and access management (IAM), an new function on NTT Com’s API Gateway that enables IT administrators to directly and easily control user access to various NTT Com ICT services. API Gateway, which was launched in December 2014, provides the APIs that enable customers and partner companies to use NTT Com services while viewing and controlling information on their own systems and applications.

The new feature will allow customers to continue to leverage NTT Com’s network and cloud services for faster and more efficient payroll, invoicing, troubleshooting and other mission-critical operations while providing the increased security to meet compliance requirements and ensure the right individuals can access the right resources. The flexibility of IAM will also allow them to tailor access to meet their unique business requirements.

• Create and control user groups
The IAM function enables IT administrators to create and control a user group for each API and can further limit access to each function related to that API.
• Tailored authorization
Customers can create user groups using a variety of criteria. APIs, IP addresses or other identifying information such as Arcstar Universal One or Enterprise One VPNs or circuit numbers can be used for authorization.

Initially, the following NTT Com services will be compatible with API Gateway’s IAM, with more to be offered in the future.
• Network services
Arcstar Universal One, Arcstar Universal One Virtual, and Arcstar Universal One Mobile Global M2M
• Cloud services
Enterprise Cloud and Cloudn
• Colocation services
Nexcenter
• Application Services
Arcstar UCaaS (Unified Communication), Arcstar SIP Trunking (External telephone), and Enterprise Mail

Going forward, NTT Com will enhance their API tools by offering a Software Development Kit (SDK) for API Gateway that will enable users to more easily utilize API consoles and check input and output online. NTT Com will also strengthen its capability to offer information on best practices for connecting diverse systems by introducing case studies on the NTT Communications API Gateway Developer’s Portal and by holding technological seminars like Enterprise APIs Hack-Nights.
