Paessler’s new license model allows unlimited usage of core servers and unlimited probes. The only limitation is a maximum number of 25,000 sensors in total, allowing monitoring of about 2,500 devices, which can be spread between any number of customers. This new MSP license comes as an annual subscription. Smaller MSPs can still use PRTG licenses up to 5,000 sensors without any restrictions, including unlimited remote probes for monitoring customer networks, access rights management and customizable dashboards.
PRTG Network Monitor is lean, customizable and complete with a full feature set at all pricing levels. MSPs can individually manage each customer deployment, defining the type and quanitity of sensors used, assigning access rights and personalizing the interfaces. One core server in the MSP data center manages all monitoring data, while individual probes installed with each customer gather data and transmit it back to the core via SSL-encrypted traffic. The service is easily scalable, and can be customized for each individual user.
“SICL utilises PRTG to proactively monitor over 25,000 sensors on customer equipment across Europe. Utilising PRTG, we are able to very quickly identify issues before they impact on our customers, perform capacity management, and reporting,” said Chris Stos-Gale, Technical Director at SICL Ltd. “We have also recently launched customer access into the service allowing for a fully hosted and managed monitoring platform, whilst allowing customers to have their own monitoring dashboards. This allows us to provide an enhanced service to our customers and improve the efficiency of our support services.”
Gregg Mearing, Head of Managed Services at Node4 Ltd. added, “PRTG has provided Node4 with a robust and responsive platform for monitoring our network infrastructure. We use it to monitor our Data Centres’ environment and hardware, VM’s, physical servers and all types of voice and networking equipment. In every instance, it has proved to be an easy to install and configurable product, that can be up and running quickly.
“Through the product’s flexibility, we are able to provide our support teams and NOC with quick views into incidents, which allows us to respond faster and more accurately to any customer issues. This has helped us achieve higher performance against SLA throughout our environments, as well as providing us with detailed performance and billing analysis.”
Rupert Collier, Senior Channel Manager, UK & Ireland at Paessler AG is confident that this move will continue to enhance PRTG’s suitability to the MSP market. “Almost a quarter of our UK business last year came from the Managed Service Provider market so it was important for us to acknowledge their specific requirements,” said Collier. “With a dedicated licensing model, PRTG lends itself exceptionally well to outsourced IT services. Our flexible deployment options make distributed networks a doddle, while our per-sensor pricing and penalty-free upgrades ensure the best value for money on the market.”
