The Challenge
The Cabinet Office needed a security solution powerful enough to protect OFFICIAL data. The challenge they faced was maintaining the highest level of security whilst improving user experience. Previous options required a separate two factor token authentication, resulting in lengthy login times and the loss of tokens causing disruption to both the user and manager.

The Solution
Disk Protect CPA by Becrypt has been installed on the laptop estate of 1250 machines at the Cabinet Office. Becrypt’s solution utilises the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip, so that users do not need to use two factor authentication.
This significantly improves login times for users and removes the risk of lost tokens and subsequent disruption. Becrypt Enterprise Manager has been adopted to centrally manage the estate.
Disk Protect CPA was compared, tested and selected over a range of other solutions for a combination of its CESG Commercial Product Assurance (CPA) certification and flexible user experience. The CPA certification removes any requirement for CESG key material, allowing for each laptop within the estate to be centrally managed by Becrypt Enterprise Manager.
Dramatically reducing the total cost of ownership, laptops can be provisioned quickly and easily, reducing user waiting time and simplifying management.
The Outcome
The adoption of more flexible and mobile ways of working is a key enabler for Cabinet Office staff, and data security is a key component of this. They needed a Government certified security solution that was powerful enough to protect sensitive OFFICIAL data, without the more cumbersome attributes of the Baseline grade solutions that were used previously; Becrypt was the best choice.
