WMG bets on Interoute networked cloud infrastructure

Interoute Virtual Data Centre offers flexibility and scalability for leading producer of online gaming platforms.

WMG, an Italian-based leader in the development of gaming systems, has chosen the Interoute Virtual Data Centre (VDC) zone in Milan to provide the high capacity and low-latency networked cloud solution for its online gaming platform.

WMG srl is an Italian company founded with the goal of developing and managing an online gaming platform and a Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) in compliance with relevant Italian legislation. With an average of six successful titles every year, such as Fowl Play Gold, the company brings compelling content to the market for gaming audiences, developing new features and ensuring a great and stable user experience.

Supported by Interoute’s infrastructure, WMG launched its proprietary online gaming platform, WMGear, in September 2015. Developed in Java, the platform was designed with the aim of bringing its most famous games to its users. Interoute’s advanced network offers the highest levels of redundancy and flexibility and eliminates the management and maintenance of physical infrastructure, which is already fully integrated into Interoute's data centres and connected throughout Europe. In addition, Interoute allows for high bandwidth capacity to be available when needed, ensuring that users get a smooth gaming experience even at peak times.

WMG is represented in the portals of a range of Italian online gaming dealers and operates an average of 200 freeplay sessions every minute with peaks of more than 500 users in the evening time; even with these major traffic flows, the online gaming platform provides an up-time of 99.9%.

Alessandro Rampazzo, Product Manager Online at WMG, said: "Our challenge was to provide all our users, in all parts of Italy, with a smooth and immediate gaming experience that would guarantee maximum enjoyment without interruption. Interoute proved to be the perfect partner to meet this challenge thanks to its network with high capacity and comprehensive distribution throughout Italy, which offers a high level of flexibility and scalability. "

Lee Myall, Senior Vice President for Cloud Computing at Interoute, added: "We are delighted that WMG, a leading-edge and rapidly growing company, has chosen Interoute for its computing and connectivity needs. Interoute’s technology generates value and drives innovation for our customers, and we believe this is only the first step in a long collaboration."
