Michael Oros joins SNIA as Executive Director

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has announced the appointment of Michael Oros as its new Executive Director. Mr. Oros brings more than 20 years of experience in strategy, planning, development, and execution in IT services and high–tech industry.

“We are very pleased to have Michael join SNIA,” said SNIA Chairman David Dale. “His track record for building strong organizations and driving technical collaboration between organizations and across industry sectors will bring the perspective and expertise required to further the SNIA’s vision and charter at this time of profound industry change.”
“I’m excited and delighted to join SNIA at such an amazing time in the industry” added Mr. Oros. “As the pace of innovation in the storage industry accelerates and the landscape continues to shift for media, interfaces, and application models, SNIA is strongly positioned as the collaboration hub for vendors, partners, IT and industry professionals. Together, through standards and thought leadership, SNIA and its members will lead IT initiatives focused on solid state storage and persistent memory, data protection and security, enterprise cloud computing and data management services, and storage infrastructure management.”
In his time at Intel Corporation, Mr. Oros oversaw a variety of business development and strategic industry initiatives for the company’s cloud, data center, storage and mobility efforts. He led the formation of the Open Data Center Alliance, and with the Board of Directors, established the organization’s presence and reach across six continents, with over 300 world leading members accelerating cloud adoption and transformation of the IT landscape. He also led the storage and networking components vendors through the biggest I/O transitions of the past decade, and this industry transformation experience is invaluable as the storage industry is on the precipice of the most significant transitions of this decade. Oros will fill the position previously held by Leo Leger who announced his retirement from the organization in late 2015. Learn more about SNIA’s Board of Directors and Leadership here.
