Quorum’s disaster recovery as a service solution delivers instant recovery of data, systems and applications allowing businesses to maintain continuity. The new offering is a virtual appliance that can be immediately leveraged to work on customers existing infrastructure, allowing businesses to repurpose old servers and storage as DR equipment. As a software-only solution, the onQ vApp can be rapidly and seamlessly deployed using customers existing VMware environments.
Introducing a software-only solution has allowed Quorum to expand its reach as a result of now offering more flexible pricing and deployment options for its customers. Customers pay a low and fair rate per server minimising their initial investment. The announcement follows the launch of Quorum’s “freemium” edition, which allows customers to trial the vApp software on a single server for free.
The onQ platform, that vApp is now a part of, was originally developed for US navy warships to ensure that on-ship computers never ‘go down’ during combat. The highly robust technology is today designed for businesses to rapidly recover their most critical applications and data in the cloud after any storage, systems or site failure. Quorum will continue to offer the popular hardware appliance option along side this new software-only solution, providing customers and channel partners with a choice.
Gabriel Gambill, Senior Director of Product and Technical Operations at Quorum commented: “Offering a software-only solution was a natural step for Quorum. The onQ appliance delivers high availability and robust disaster recovery, and with a software-only solution we are able to work closely with our customers and partners to provide a solution which can quickly and seamlessly integrate into their current environments.”
