Datapipe opens Russian data centre

New data centre in Moscow strengthens company’s European presence to meet global, enterprise demand, and growing need for e-commerce throughout Russia.

Datapipe has expanded its presence in Europe with the opening of a new data centre in Moscow, Russia. Designed in part to accommodate the growing demand for e-commerce throughout Russia, the new state-of-the-art centre will provide Datapipe enterprise clients with global reach, scale, and organisational agility across the European region.

In 2015, 30 million online shoppers in Russia generated an estimated 148 million orders. With 160 million small packages sent to online consumers in 2015, up 10 per cent from the previous year, Russia’s domestic online retail market is growing in real terms.[1] The location of Datapipe’s Moscow data centre lets global enterprises operate and sell in Russia while abiding by the country’s data sovereignty laws.

“The new centre in Moscow continues our strategic global expansion allowing our clients to take advantage of the rapidly growing e-commerce industry in Russia,” said Robb Allen, CEO. “Many enterprises are focussed on Russia in anticipation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup – this expansion enables us to more effectively partner with them.”

The new Moscow centre is the fifth world-class data centre in the Datapipe Europe network. Datapipe’s complete range of managed cloud services are available throughout Europe, including Datapipe Managed Cloud for AWS, Datapipe Managed Cloud for Microsoft, and the company’s hosted private cloud solution, Stratosphere. Clients can move data efficiently and securely between each Datapipe Europe location and all the other facilities in the global Datapipe network.
