Tripwire has introduced a next generation Tripwire® Enterprise 8.5 agent built on the firm’s new secure, scalable and extensible platform, Tripwire Axon™. The Tripwire Enterprise 8.5 agent on Tripwire Axon is a pluggable, multiservice, high-performance solution designed to address the unique challenges of monitoring and securing the exponential growth of diverse endpoints found on enterprise and industrial networks, including Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices.
The new Tripwire Axon platform and agent both leverage Tripwire’s extensive expertise in delivering comprehensive security solutions for critical infrastructure. The Tripwire Enterprise Axon agent is designed to adapt quickly to rapid changes in enterprise networks, device types, security and compliance data demands, and new cyber threats. By optimizing the collection, aggregation and communication of rich endpoint data from a wide variety of endpoint devices, the Tripwire Enterprise Axon agent makes it possible to reuse data across multiple security controls, which dramatically reduces cost of ownership. The modular, pluggable architecture allows customers to easily turn on new capabilities in the Tripwire Enterprise Axon agent in response to the latest cyber security threats, compliance regulations, IT operations requests or shifting business demands.
Key features of the Tripwire Enterprise Axon agent:
  • Unparalleled Visibility - Flexible, high-fidelity data capture capabilities across a wide variety of endpoint types eliminates security blind spots.
  • Lightweight and efficient– Natively compiled, lean, compact agents work with a wide variety of common enterprise operating systems. Agents consume fewer network and device resources and dramatically reduce total cost of ownership.
  • Modular – Agents are modular and designed to offer comprehensive and customer-selectable data collection functionality, catering to the environment and threat profile.
  • Resilient and secure - Continues to collect data even after OS changes, network changes and outages, providing uninterrupted online and offline visibility for every endpoint, even on highly secure, air-gapped or remote networks.
  • Extensible and Scalable - Designed to adapt quickly to new business demands, including emerging platforms, services and applications.
“The new Tripwire Axon platform is designed to deliver a single solution to the most challenging cyber security, compliance and IT operations problems our customers face,” said Gus Malezis, president of Tripwire. “We developed this pioneering technology to solve the growing number of industry issues that must be addressed in order to improve cyber security resilience. We are confident that Tripwire Enterprise Axon agent will immediately deliver significant value to our customers by lowering the cost of ownership and extending visibility to endpoints that can’t be closely monitored with existing technologies. We’re also very excited about the future applications of this highly adaptable, extensible technology.”
According to Cisco, the number of connected devices is projected to increase to over 50 billion by 2020. Dramatic growth in the number of connected endpoints and the proliferation of valuable business data across the extended enterprise – including widely dispersed physical, virtual, transient and embedded endpoints – is driving the need for more scalable security, compliance and IT operations solutions. Organizations are already struggling to keep up with the increase in sophisticated cyber attacks. According to the FireEye Mandiant M-Trends report, the average time required to detect a cyber security breach was over 200 days.
“Many organizations expend valuable time and resources keeping agents running in order to collect accurate and complete security, compliance and IT operations data from their endpoints,” said Dwayne Melancon, CTO and vice president of research and development for Tripwire. “Deploying and managing multiple agents often requires difficult trade-offs between optimizing endpoint performance and reliability; dedicating the resources required to manage the agents; and collecting the detailed data necessary to detect a cyber attack as well as support forensic and audit requirements. The new Tripwire Enterprise Axon agent solves this problem by redefining how endpoint data is collected and providing a high-performance, resilient means of maintaining vigilance at the endpoint. This revolutionary technology makes it easy to collect meaningful information in response to a wide range of business operations changes, including new types of endpoints and security threats.”
