Faster than Flash at multi-petabyte scale

INFINIDAT has introduced Version 3.0 of the InfiniBox™ flash-optimised storage system. InfiniBox offers performance of over 1M IOPS, sub-millisecond latency, inline compression, enhanced performance analytics, iSCSI support and scalability to over 5 petabytes of effective storage capacity in a single standard 42U rack, further enhancing the system’s ability to handle data at scale.

New features in InfiniBox Version 3.0 include:

·      Over 5 petabytes of effective storage capacity in a single rack
InfiniBox now provides scalability to over 5 PB of effective capacity in a single 19-inch/42U rack. InfiniBox continues to offer 99.99999% availability, even at this high-capacity level.

·      Transparent Inline data compression
InfiniBox 3.0 includes a highly efficient inline data compression capability with no impact on performance. Depending on the type of data and applications being used, InfiniBox’s enhanced compression enables customers to maximise the usable storage in a single rack. As a result, InfiniBox provides the greatest storage density at the most effective cost in the market today, enables higher levels of consolidation and significantly lowers power, cooling and floor space costs.

·      Faster than All-Flash performance for real-world workloads
InfiniBox provides over 1M IOPS of throughput with sub-millisecond latency. In recent customer benchmarks, the Flash-optimised InfiniBox storage array proved to be faster than All-Flash arrays with real-world, mission critical workloads. InfiniBox 3.0 contains patented algorithms that keep the hottest data on the fastest media at all times, and with as much as three terabytes of DRAM and over 200 TB of flash, both writes and reads are optimized.

·      Truly Unified Protocol Support with iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and NAS
With its truly unified architecture, InfiniBox supports multiple storage networking protocols, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NFS, while maintaining high performance, reliability and scalability. Delivering multi-protocol access in a single platform, without supplemental gateway appliances, optimally supports the widest possible variety of applications, particularly those managed by cloud and service providers, who are looking to support multiple applications at a reduced CapEx and OpEx.

·      Enhanced performance analytics
InfiniBox performance monitoring and analysis tools now enable customers to drill down to an extremely granular level and obtain very detailed analysis of system and application performance in real-time. The enhanced performance analytics provides reporting and filtering on dozens of data path parameters (IO source/target, IO type, latency, users, etc.), enabling storage administrators to have deep insights on operation and performance of storage systems and storage fabric.

Customer and Partner Comments
“The dense architecture of the InfiniBox has given us a great deal of confidence in what’s sitting in the rack from the nodes right down to the disks,” said Michel Danon, senior vice president and chief information officer at Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA). “We look forward to leveraging the new compression capabilities to more effectively assess our future storage requirements and the cost of that storage.”

“We are excited about the new iSCSI capability for our private cloud and DRaaS products,” said Dan Hamilton, vice president of technology at Whipcord. “InfiniBox Version 3.0 will allow us to further boost the performance of our managed cloud services while keeping costs down.”

“INFINIDAT and Brocade are committed to delivering storage solutions that provide breakthrough application performance and optimise business operations for our joint customers,” said Jack Rondoni, vice president of storage networking at Brocade. “InfiniBox 3.0’s IP protocol support and other powerful new features are a great match for the Brocade Gen 6 Fibre Channel and IP storage solutions, providing the performance, flexibility and resiliency that enterprises need to manage demanding workloads.”
