VIRTUS Data Centres awarded G-Cloud 9 status

VIRTUS Data Centres has achieved supplier status with the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) as part of the G-Cloud 9 initiative. Building on the success of the previous G-Cloud 7 listing, this will allow VIRTUS to extend access to its Managed Cloud Connect Infrastructure Service (VMCCI), to central government, local government, health, education, devolved administrations, emergency services, defence and not-for-profit organisations, utilising the G-Cloud framework.

The new G-Cloud 9 listing, and enhancements made to the VMCCI solutions, means that publicly funded bodies now have access to a wider array of public and private cloud services with increased commercial flexibility and choice via the wholly owned data centre assets in the VIRTUS portfolio - all without the complication of full tender or competition procurement process.

VIRTUS has an established track record of providing data centre services directly to government, public sector and global public cloud providers, and following the recent announcement of its fourth London facility, it is now able to offer the widest choice of public, private and hybrid cloud services across a range of locations. This removes the burden of relying solely on public Internet for access in order to address the security, performance and quality of service challenges they face.
 
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) works with departments and organisations across the whole of the public sector to ensure maximum value is extracted from every commercial relationship and improve the quality of service delivery. Its goal is to become the “go-to” place for expert commercial and procurement services.
 
The VIRTUS Managed Cloud Connect Infrastructure solution supports the Government's policy to centrally manage the procurement of common goods and services through an integrated commercial function at the heart of government. VMCCI can be used by organisations across the UK public sector including central government, local government, health, education, devolved administrations, emergency services, defence and not-for-profit organisations and will support the migration of services from dedicated “on premise” architecture through to off premises hybrid cloud solutions.
