Proact supports NEXT College’s hybrid cloud plans

One of Denmark’s biggest upper secondary and vocational colleges has chosen future-proof infrastructure solution from leading data centre and cloud provider Proact.

When CPH West and Copenhagen Technical Colleges merged to create a broader and improved range of training and education options for young people in greater Copenhagen, NEXT was created. As a result of this merger, three data centres needed to be consolidated to create a more efficient and easier to manage IT environment.
With a long-standing heritage when it comes to delivering successful infrastructure projects, Proact had the knowledge that was required to meet NEXT’s needs for a flexible, scalable solution. The platform which was designed and implemented by Proact’s team of international specialists has the potential to be developed over time to form a hybrid cloud platform which combines private and external environments.
NEXT can have peace of mind that its critical data is secure due to the use of leading enterprise-class technology which also optimises both performance and capacity. The solution also supports all standard protocols and platforms. With its new cloud-ready environment, NEXT has leveraged its investment with a solution that will underpin future IT plans and the company’s vision/mantra: “We think big and do things simply”. Proact and NEXT will continue to work together to develop a successful hybrid cloud strategy, with the cloud service provider becoming a trusted advisor and acting as an extension of the college’s internal IT team.
“Proact has extensive expertise in the fields of virtualisation, backup and managed cloud services, and has provided qualified advice on solutions and opportunities. Choosing Proact as a partner was an obvious choice as we continue our journey towards the hybrid cloud”, says John Andersen, Head of IT at NEXT.
With Proact cloud-ready solution, NEXT has taken the first step on its journey away from a traditional data centre and towards the hybrid cloud. The next step will be to place a range of services and workloads in the cloud while introducing relevant managed cloud services.
“This solution meets our immediate needs, but at the same time it can be used to modernise our entire infrastructure”, Andersen adds.
“Here at Proact, development is in our DNA. We are not simply a hardware/software house, but a provider of consultancy services that focuses on our customers’ systems, needs and challenges, ensuring they get a best-fit solution. We are always there to help our customers take the next step”, says Ole V?hrens, Director of Sales at Proact.
