EPIX turns up its node in Warsaw

EPIX, the second largest non-commercial, truly neutral and independent IP traffic exchange node in Poland, has turned up a node in EdgeConneX’s Warsaw data center. The node facilitates a physical uplink to EPIX resources via 1 and 10 Gb optical ports from the EdgeConneX facility. EdgeConneX was chosen for the next EPIX node because of the site's operational neutrality, customer demand and ease of fiber connection.

“This investment will help further expand the EPIX initiative while providing increased opportunities to potential members, comments Krzysztof Czuszek from the E-Południe Association. “This step also further solidifies EdgeConneX’s standing as a premier data center and interconnection hub in Europe. The EPIX node’s distribution has a significant impact on its availability and security and provides EPIX members with the ability to leverage new international IP resources.”

EdgeConneX’s substantial customer base of network, content and cloud service providers require robust solutions to support their localized and latency-sensitive requirements in Central and Eastern Europe. Demand in Europe is being driven by increased adoption of hybrid cloud, data regulations and the ability to be the gateway into neighboring countries. As such, Warsaw is positioned as one of Europe’s digital leaders. With additional EMEA market expansion planned throughout 2019, the EPIX node availability complements the company’s overall strategic expansion goals in the region.

“We are honored to support EPIX as an independent internet exchange point in our Warsaw facility,” comments Dick Theunissen, Managing Director EMEA at EdgeConneX. “Inclusion of the EPIX node will expand the number of operators available in the data center, which will in turn increase its availability. As a result, our customers will increase the traffic at EPIX and provide it with new content. It’s a win-win for all involved. Like our latest EMEA based announcements, the EPIX partnership is testimony to our commitment to the region and to bringing the edge to our customers.”EPIX turns
