As an Infrastructure as a Service provider, Leaseweb currently operates 20 data centers at locations across Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America. After announcing the opening of a new data center facility in Miami earlier this year to expand its hosting potential in the United States while creating a future pathway into South America, Leaseweb is now further expanding its data center presence in Europe. Leaseweb selected the recently opened maincubes AMS01 data center as it meets Leaseweb’s stringent requirements for scalability, security, energy-efficiency, and good price/quality ratios.
“maincubes is one of the few independent European colocation data center operators still left in the Amsterdam area, and is a company that has the same entrepreneurial spirit as Leaseweb,” said Arno Witvliet, Managing Director of Leaseweb Netherlands. “We like their pure-play colocation focus, as well as the data center amenities they have in place, like an N+1+1 generator infrastructure setup, for example. It fits the high-quality and high-availability standards Leaseweb has set for the hosting solutions we deliver from our data centers globally.”
European data centers
As a European data center operator, maincubes has an expanding number of colocation data centers available. Its current data centers are located in Amsterdam (AMS01) and Frankfurt (FRA01).
“Our data center infrastructures are engineered for market-leading companies, with a keen eye for detail meeting enterprise requirements,” said Oliver Menzel, CEO of maincubes. “We proudly welcome Leaseweb to our Amsterdam facility as a market leader on a global level, and we appreciate their acknowledgment of the high-standard data center quality being established.”
“The entrepreneurial culture we see at Leaseweb is surely meeting maincubes’ own culture and operations, it’s a good match,” said Joris te Lintelo, Vice President Sales at maincubes and responsible for the Amsterdam facility. “At maincubes, customers can choose whichever brands or infrastructural setups they prefer. We tend to adapt our data center operations flexibly to customer needs, something we recognize in the customer-oriented hosting solutions delivered by Leaseweb.”
This announcement follows the news of Leaseweb completing a major network expansion in its Amsterdam AMS01 data center, another facility in this area. The network expansion builds on Leaseweb’s rack-to-web redundant global network architecture and is especially aimed at the company’s high bandwidth customers. It paves the way for applications benefiting from 100Gbps connectivity. Initially connecting to 5 Tier 1 IP backbones with multiple 100Gbps ports as well as to Leaseweb’s own 6 Tbps global network, the architecture and technology being used will become the foundation for all Leaseweb’s new network expansions, as well as for expansions in current data center locations.
