UPS combines flexibility with efficiency

Award-winning manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies Riello UPS launches the Sentryum (S3T), its third generation of transformerless online UPS system.

Available in 10, 15, and 20 kVA models, the new range puts flexibility at the forefront by offering data centre operators, IT admins, and other mission-critical applications the choice of three cabinet sizes, enabling them to maximise battery backup time to suit their needs.

The Compact (CPT) frame is designed for the most space-restricted environments, incorporating a single internal battery string in a footprint of less than 0.25m2. Active (ACT) houses up to two internal battery strings in a footprint of 0.35m2. While even though it takes up less than 0.4m2 space, the Xtend (XTD) option provides enough room to fit three battery strings inside its single cabinet.

Manufactured using state-of-the-art components including a dual-core DSP processor and three-level inverter, the new range delivers full-rated unity power and is capable of exceptional operating efficiency of 96.5% in double conversion online mode, even at loads of 50-75%.

Leo Craig, General Manager of Riello UPS, revealed: “The new Sentryum builds on our best-selling Multi Sentry (MST) series. We’ve listened to extensive customer feedback and developed this fantastic new product, which has fewer components, cables, and connections than the MST. Not only does this mean it requires less space, but it also makes the Sentryum far easier and more cost-effective to maintain.”

The Sentryum features a unique control system that helps minimise harmonic voltage distortion, while it also has outstandingly high overload and short circuit capacity. This ensures the UPS can deal with sudden peak loads without having to transfer to bypass.

Up to eight Sentryum units can be paralleled together to scale up capacity or provide redundancy. It features a revamped large touchscreen colour display panel along with an intuitive new LED status indicator that changes colour depending on the operating mode and condition of the UPS system.
