Here, Zstor is authorized as a solution partner to tailor customer-specific requirements and to optimize their local NAS and cloud storage. With Komprise, the existing data can be analysed and monitored for the user in a result-oriented manner. The subsequent migration of data is traceable according to clear specifications into secondary NAS and/or S3 cloud storage, while always keeping the metadata of SMB/NFS files in an original accessible path. This optimizes storage utilization and reduces costs as well as storage space and data transfer.
Komprise analytics-driven data management optimizes hybrid storage architectures
Unstructured data in IT environments is a known problem for any system administrator. Up to 80% of data are older than six months and as a result called as "cold data". In addition, this data are often distributed across heterogeneous NAS and cloud environments. Komprise’s data analytics offers tools to analyse existing data structures as well as environments and gives user an excellent overview about their data structure. In addition, Komprise has the data management tools included which are needed to adapt existing data to user needs, as well as an intelligent, traceable migration strategy of data to secondary NAS and cloud storage.
Komprise established Zstor as authorized solution provider
"With Komprise, our customers have a highly intelligent software suite that provides a very good, analytical overview of unstructured customer data and provides the tools to optimize this data in terms of costs, performance and availability," says Helmut Kopel, Managing Director of Zstor GmbH in Kaarst. "Zstor, as an authorized solution partner, has the necessary know-how to integrate the Komprise solution into the customer environment."
Data management and optimization
The efficiency of data migration depends on intelligent analysis, but also on optimized data transfer and access. Komprise analyses the data. Via the Komprise Director, an intuitive interface, the user gets an overview about his data structure and defines the specifications which the software needs to identify and migrate data. As a result the data migration will be proceeded using all available resources in a parallel mode. Data are performed into the Komprise Observer Grid, which consists of multiple virtual machines and performs the migration through high-performance processes running in parallel. Here, for example, data transfers are realized with up to 27 times the speed compared to rsync commands. Data is distributed fault-tolerantly to existing storage locations, where data integrity is always given while using an MD5 check sum.
Nothing changes for the user
Meta data of a file remains in the normal user location, regardless of how and where Komprise ultimately moves the data. This is managed by the Komprise Director, which makes the migration processes comprehensible. Komprise leaves a symbolic link in the original location, which is always preserved, allowing the user to call a file as usual.
Tailor-made solution from Zstor
The use of Komprise data management is ideal for organizations that have a data pool of more than 100 TeraBytes on local NAS silos and Windows servers. Zstor, as an authorized solution partner of Komprise, deploy solutions using customer’s requirements up to a Proof-of-Concept (PoC).
