virtuaDCS wins at VIAs

virtualDCS, the channel-first cloud and disaster recovery specialist, has become the first company in Europe to scoop a prestigious innovation award from global software giant, Veeam Software.

With more than 100 nominations, the judging panel of industry experts selected just four Veeam Partner winners in the hotly contested category that recognises “outstanding offerings that are delivering great capabilities to their customers”. virtualDCS’s CEO, Richard May and CRO, Kurt Kiefer, will be presented with the award at VeeamON 2023, the community event for data recovery experts, taking place from the 22nd to 24th May in Miami.

The accolade coincides with virtualDCS celebrating its fifteenth anniversary and releasing its new CloudCover portal. The pioneering new single pane of glass provides a customer-centric view of all Veeam-powered CloudCover services presented within a single admin portal.

This gives companies a consolidated view of customers and their service statuses, as well as highlighting warnings, issues, and even helping to identify any potential gaps within their data protection strategy.

“Being prepared for a crisis relies on having a holistic view of your data landscape, and how it is being protected. If you look at the problem as a whole, a single treatment for data protection and recovery should be an intuitive approach to risk mitigation and incident resolution,” said Richard May, CEO of virtualDCS.

Known as the ‘CloudCover Services Portal’, the product is named after virtualDCS’s ground-breaking suite of leading-edge cloud services that are specifically designed for the channel and service providers to deliver to their own customer base.

CloudCover’s holistic protection incorporates a range of pro-active and reactive measures, covering everything from end-user-focused Microsoft 365 backup to cutting-edge Kubernetes protection, partnering with industry leaders including Seagate, Zadara and Vade to protect organisations against growing cyber threats.

Jason Buffington, vice president of market strategy at Veeam in the US, said: “The fifth VIAs celebrate both compelling partner-delivered solutions and great customer-achieved outcomes. Veeam is always committed to delivering innovation – it’s in our DNA – but our customers and partners are the true innovators.

We were inundated with high-quality nominations from around the world, but the CloudCover service range and depth across the entire Veeam portfolio really stood out. The combination of the technical capabilities within the platform and virtualDCS’s commitment to innovation will undoubtedly benefit their partners and their end-users. It’s a perfect example of a partner company creating solutions that astound and delight us. Veeam is proud to recognise virtualDCS for that this year.”

Richard May, CEO of virtualDCS, added: “We’re over the moon to receive this award, especially as we celebrate our fifteenth birthday. There’s no doubt that becoming the first company headquartered in Europe to win a VIA is another key differentiator over our competitors and demonstrates that not all service providers are alike.

“Bringing every service into one place makes them much easier and more efficient to monitor and maintain, which ultimately creates a superb end-user experience. We already have the Veeam accreditations to demonstrate our expertise and volumes, but to win an award from them for innovation is the icing on the cake and cements our position at the forefront of the cloud computing and disaster recovery industry.

“It also further endorses the market-leading technology that we offer to the channel and service providers, with the full support of Veeam and their UK team, which enables us to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.”

Pamela Napier, senior manager of cloud UK, Veeam said: “Having worked with virtualDCS for the last 15 years, we know how much they take pride in innovating to maximise the potential of Veeam’s services. We actively encourage ‘Partnering with Partners’ across our ecosystem to ensure our mutual customers get the best possible solutions for their modern data protection needs. Creating the CloudCover Service Portal is a great example and we’ve seen first-hand how it’s benefitting the channel, as well as the wider IT partner community, which makes it a key development for our industry in 2023.”

virtualDCS recently became the first UK owned channel-first Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) to attain Veeam platinum service provider status. This followed virtualDCS also becoming the first UK-based VCSP partner to achieve the Reseller Ready competency from Veeam, which gives virtualDCS an official seal of approval to resell Veeam’s entire product portfolio to its own partners including BaaS (Backup as a Service), Veeam Backup for Office 365, DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service), off-site backup and MSP (Managed Service Provider) backup.
