Orange Cyberdefense expands with Swiss acquisition of ensec

Orange Cyberdefense strengthens its presence in Switzerland by acquiring Zurich-based cybersecurity firm ensec.

Orange Cyberdefense, the cyber division of Orange, has successfully acquired ensec, a well-regarded Swiss cybersecurity company. This strategic move reinforces Orange's footprint in Switzerland, particularly in the German-speaking territories, accompanying their established presence in French speaking areas.

The acquisition, finalised on 23 July, aims to leverage synergies between Orange's existing operations and ensec's expertise, especially amidst a growing demand for cybersecurity and regulatory adherence in Switzerland.

With a solid reputation in offensive security solutions since its inception in 2022, Orange Cyberdefense Switzerland boasts over 100 skilled experts serving both public and private clients. The strategic addition of ensec, which includes 40 experts and a clientele of over 130 entities in sectors like finance and energy, further solidifies Orange's market position.

By integrating ensec, Orange plans to capitalise on strengths—merging global sales forces and technical expertise to enhance presence in the Germanic regions. Such an alignment promises to expand Orange's access to this valuable customer base, fulfilling its goal to be Europe’s trusted cybersecurity leader. This acquisition aligns seamlessly with Orange Cyberdefense’s goal: to merge local operations with scalable global expertise, fostering sustainable digital trust.

Nicolas Lutz, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense Switzerland, added: “We strongly believe that the combination of our respective activities in Switzerland makes sense for our customers by providing increased proximity and the ability to respond rapidly irrespective of language-related constraints. In addition, ensec’s recognised expertise in consulting and cybersecurity integration makes for a perfect match that will build on our existing capabilities to create a dynamic Swiss cyber champion.”

Mike Schuler, CEO of ensec, concluded: "Joining Orange Cyberdefense marks an exciting new chapter for ensec. This step enables us to scale our impact, expand our footprint, and bring even more value to our clients — while staying true to our core: deep technical expertise, a strong local presence, and trusted partnerships. With access to Orange Cyberdefense’s extensive portfolio of services and products, we are ideally positioned to deliver end-to-end cybersecurity solutions tailored to the Swiss market."
