SELECT joins DoiT to automate data platform efficiency

DoiT integrates SELECT into its platform, aiming to enhance cloud data optimisation and transparency.

DoiT, a provider of FinOps and CloudOps solutions, has acquired SELECTSELECT provides tools to help businesses manage and monitor data platform costs, initially focusing on Snowflake.

This acquisition marks a step in DoiT’s $250 million AI investment strategy, complementing recent acquisitions such as LiveDiagrams, PerfectScale, and CloudWize. Collectively, these efforts aim to strengthen DoiT’s approach to controlling costs, enhancing performance, and ensuring effective governance across the modern cloud landscape.

The challenge with data platforms lies in their expansion and the opaque nature of their associated costs. While many enterprises have developed sound infrastructure FinOps practices, data teams frequently face challenges. These include fluctuating warehouse demands, inefficient queries, and non-transparent billing, often without the backing of automation or governance practices.

For SELECT users, the service and experience remain largely the same. Their current contracts, pricing, support avenues, and product features continue as they are, with the SELECT team continuing platform development. In time, they aim to offer broader access to DoiT’s offerings, supporting consistent service and ongoing innovation.

For members of the DoiT community, the integration of SELECT's technology into the DoiT Cloud Intelligence platform marks the next phase for PerfectScale for Snowflake. This integration seeks to bring the strength of FinOps automation into the data layer, offering insights into Snowflake usage. Using policy-driven automation, it aims to help reduce wastage while maintaining performance and data integrity.

SELECT helps identify issues such as poorly configured computing resources and inefficient queries, continuously enforcing optimisation to produce actionable business outcomes.

According to Vadim Solovey, CEO of DoiT, data platforms have become financial enigmas for many. With SELECT, DoiT introduces the same automation-first methods to data platforms that reshaped infrastructure FinOps. PerfectScale for Snowflake delivers a well-rounded view along with governance and optimisation.

Under DoiT’s leadership, PerfectScale for Snowflake will integrate with the DoiT Cloud Intelligence platform, binding data platform optimisation with budgeting, anomaly detection, and automated workflows. This will support users with AI-driven recommendations that collaboratively analyse cloud and data telemetry to implement optimisation strategies.
